Tubing the Guadalupe!!!

Okay...so our summer has been so busy and I have fallen woefully behind on the blog. Sorry! I have good intentions...but, then I'm sure you've heard about the road to hell...blah blah blah...

So, as previously mentioned, Karen and hubby Donnie, Myself and hubby Calvin, several other "couple" friends, and of course THE COUPLE (Pocket Edward and Hideous Bella) spent a long weekend in New Braunfels, TX...tubing the Guadalupe! Well, that is what we were supposed to be doing, but due to a near drought as of late, we all just sort of floated around in front of our campsite, going nowhere fast. But it was so much fun to take a little break from work, parenting, and the everyday grind. So, we all have travel trailers that we circled like we were pioneers or something...and let me tell you something we all discovered...

Being Old Ain't All Bad !

You see, there are a LOT of young people who head up to this area to go tubing all summer long. And when you are young, you are usually broke for the most part. You stay in small, sometimes borrowed, tents. You are either too young or too poor to purchase much, or any, alcohol. Let's face it...even meals are pretty cheap and simplistic.

But none of us are young anymore. And while none of us can claim to be wealthy, we do enjoy a lot more financial stability than we did when we began our adulthood. (Although claiming to be an adult at any age is pretty funny for our group!!)

So, we all have comfortable trailers with air conditioning, full bathrooms and kitchens, and even TV's and DVD players. "Roughing it" is not how we choose to camp!!!! So we circle up, set up our disco ball in the center...and turn on the industrial size margarita machine that runs nonstop for the entire 4 days we are there. And my hubby grills a mean steak...meal times are good. Every young person that walks, floats, or drives by our camp wants to be our friend...

So...needless to say little Ed and Bella had a great time. They are glad to know us. They cut loose and had some fun...maybe too much fun! After relaxing in the lawn chair...lazily floating the river awhile...you know, just chillin' out in general...our little friends got a little wasted. They ended up enjoying the rum runners we had mixing so much...they dived right in. And this was all the first night!!!! Good thing Pocket Edward had his trusty Ray Bans...because let me tell you, his hangover was a killer!!!!
